Telegram Ads rejected: why ads get declined and how to pass review the first time

Published: 3 October 2026

A Telegram Ads ad is declined for three groups of reasons: the text breaks the style requirements, the link or the destination channel does not meet the rules, or the topic itself is prohibited. All three are described in the platform's official policies; below they are gathered into a checklist you can run before submitting.

What moderation checks

Not just the 160 characters. The moderator opens the link and looks at the channel, bot or site behind it: is there an avatar and a description, are there recent posts, does the channel's language match the ad, does the ad promise something the channel does not have. Most first-time declines are about the destination, not the text.

Text: reasons for a decline

  • Longer than 160 characters including spaces.
  • CaPiTaLiZaTiOn, highlighting, s p a c i n g and s,y,m,b,o,l,s used to grab attention.
  • Intrusive or excessive emoji.
  • Line breaks, bullet points, numbered lists.
  • Errors, unclear meaning, vague descriptions: standard requirements of style, spelling and punctuation apply.
  • Clickbait and unrealistic statements such as “you just won”.
  • Exaggerated comparisons and absolute claims, superlatives without support.
  • Text that does not match what is in the channel or on the site.
  • Highlighting the reader's personal characteristics: ethnicity, religion, location.
  • Profanity in any language, including masked.
  • More than one link in the text.
  • URL shorteners and IP addresses.
  • The button link and the text link lead to different places: both must lead to the same destination.
  • Redirects, swapping the content after review, imitating other sites or brands.

Destination: what it must not be

  • No profile image or description on the channel, bot or account.
  • No post in the channel within two weeks before review; empty and abandoned channels and bots are not allowed.
  • The channel's language does not match the ad's language.
  • The content does not match the ad text.
  • The website is inactive, expired or inaccessible.
  • Profanity or excessive capitalization in the channel or on the site.
  • A bot that is not useful or behaves inconsistently.

What cannot be advertised on Telegram Ads

Questionable legalityForged documents, stolen data, counterfeits

This applies to us too: growth services, TGFocus included, cannot be advertised on Telegram Ads. The channel you promote does not fall under that rule: it is about what is advertised, not about how the channel gained its members. What gets checked is activity, presentation and whether the channel matches the ad.

Ad statuses

  • In Review: moderation is checking the text and the destination.
  • Declined: the ad must be changed before it can be displayed; the reason is usually shown next to it.
  • Active: review passed, impressions run within the budget and bid.
  • Stopped / On Hold: paused by you or waiting for an action such as a top-up.

The platform does not state an official review time. Advertisers report that an obvious decline comes quickly, while a full review can take from hours to several days.

Your ad was declined: what to do

  1. Read the reason next to the ad and find it in the lists above. The platform's wording matches its policies.
  2. Fix the one thing that was named. Rewriting the whole text is not needed.
  3. If the reason is about the destination, fix the channel first: avatar, description, a fresh post, language.
  4. Resubmit. Resubmitting without changes gives the same result.
  5. If the reason is unclear, check whether the topic falls under a prohibited category: those declines cannot be fixed with text.

Checklist before submitting

  • 160 characters, one idea, no caps, lists or extra emoji.
  • One link, no shorteners; the button and the text lead to the same place.
  • The channel has an avatar, a description and a post from the last two weeks.
  • The channel's language matches the ad and the targeted channels.
  • The ad promises exactly what the person will see in the channel.
  • The channel does not look empty: members, views on recent posts, reactions enabled. Not a moderation rule, but the reason you pay for impressions.
